Finding Packaging for Kicad and Pushing BBB Schematics to the Brim?

Hello There and a Big Thank You to those in 2021 Whom Updated the Kicad BBB Cape (PCB) Schematic…

Hello…again. That link will bring you to a ti forum post where I am trying to configure a PCB Cape for Motor Driving via Kicad.

It seems that the TXS0108E is not listed in the Kicad repos… Blah. I checked parts and values constantly for updates. No go.

So, to start, I am building the BBB Cape PCB for use with four motors and four motor drivers along with the SN74HC126 chips to start a fun retrieval for when I port things to other boards.

I wanted to start with the BBB since it has had the most guest appearances in history. For instance, the BBB I have been using is still alive and well even after many failed attempts while building. It lives!

It is a very strong board with many advantages over many other “competitors” and I think it would be neat to have a working PCB on my end of things for when I try to branch out and learn more.

Anyway, I am building the Cape with Kicad and some SN74HC126 capable 2 * 7 THT Chip Sockets (I think). I am still hashing out the details so far.

Anyway and so, it seems that Kicad 10 has an issue with VSSOP and I cannot find the correct part just yet. Still going and researching the parts they have available…

The closest I can get so far are these chips:

  • 505AB from Onsemi
  • and the
  • SOT764-1 from nExperia

Currently, I am looking to not get so general and have some actual chips that are what we say they are actually. So, if it is a TXS0108E and I can call it as a TXS0108E, that would be supurb.

Seth

P.S. I know this is asking a lot from this community. I will keep up the research and placement of found components before learning exactly how to route and place for actual motor movement.

TSSOP-20_4.4x6.5mm_P0.65mm will bring you to the correct pin alignment footprint on the Kicad PCB Editor. Blah.
