Flashing LCD7 on Beaglebone black / Robert Nelson Kernel 3.8.13

Hi,

as described here:
http://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black

I build a MLO, U-Boot, Linux-Kernel and uEnv.txt.
For the kernel configuration I used the defconfig
and only added a local version name for the kernel.

uEnv.txt was not altered.

As RootFs I used Gentoo.

When booting the system the attached LCD7 flashes
once before Tux is displayed for the one core the
CPU has.

I read that Angström release earlier than 2013-06-20
is able to damage the LCD7.

Is this one flash going to kill my LCD7 slowly
but surely (after the flash everything works fine...)
and is there a way to prevent this?

Best regards,
mcc
