GSoC2010 - RTEMS BSP for Beagle board

Hi all,

My proposal is to develop Real-Time Executive for Multiprocessor
Systems(RTEMS) Board Support Package (BSP) for Beagle Board.

The project steps are:

- get hello world example of RTEMS running
- add interrupt support and clock tick (ticker runs)
- network addition
- graphics driver
- Qemu simulator needs to work as well as real hardware for the BSP.

Please let me know your valuable feedback on this project proposal.

Reference Question: If your project is successfully completed, what
will its impact be on the BeagleBoard.org community? Give 3 answers,
each 1-3 paragraphs in length. The first one should be yours. The
other two should be answers received from feedback of members of the
BeagleBoard.org community, at least one of whom should be a
BeagleBoard.org GSoC mentor. Provide email contact information for non-
GSoC mentors.

Best Regards,
Jagan

Jagan,

At this point, please just submit the proposal. There isn't enough
time to get much feedback. I believe it can be amended if necessary
(?). but try to make it as strong as possible as the initial
impression counts.

The RTEMS guys seem (very) keen and hopefully there is BB interest if
it gets to that point. I for one have some interest (amongst other
projects). Just focus on getting a good proposal in, or well, just
anything before time runs out.

FWIW personally I think the wider the OS support the better, so RTEMS
would certainly be a useful addition here. I think interrupt support
is a bare necessity here too. On-going there is also the DSP. i.e.
huge scope, but try to break it down into reasonable steps and
achievable goals.
