Have you turned these into marketable products?

In other words, turns the board into a new product and any support cape? Sold hundreds of the same product?

We use the BeagleBone Black (BBB) in commercial applications, primarily in specialized equipment and machinery. These are typically custom-built solutions and are not produced in volumes of hundreds per project.

I have several ideas for capes, HATs, and even custom boards. However, a significant challenge is being based in the USA, which affects feasibility and competitiveness.

Over 10 years ago, we had to discontinue one of our products because we couldn’t compete on price. Ironically, that product’s image—featuring our sales manager’s distinctive ring and a spot on her hand—has become recognizable worldwide. It is now being used by over 30 sellers on platforms like AliExpress, eBay, and Amazon to promote knock-offs. While it has worked well for them, we ultimately had to let it go because competing in such a market proved futile.

Yes. We have used BBB since 2014 integrating into products. A few thousand per year. Still using it.
Availability has been excellent, even during the pandemic component shortage. We could not get any RPi CM3:s but no problem with BBB. Important lesson.

I have a large product line of pixel controllers based on Beagles: https://kulplights.com

I sell several thousand each year. While I’ve recently expanded to also offering some Pi based products, the PRU’s on the beagles are MUCH better equipped for the needs of driving pixels. The main issue with the Beaglebone Black is the single ARM core that is very old. Certain things take a lot longer than desired compared to the Pi’s, but for driving a ton of pixels, the PRU’s are great.
