help building/updating a debian kernel or image

The instructions found here:

likely do a fine job for doing so on the bone that is also attached to
an internet connected network (I wouldn't know as my bone presently is
*not* on such a network). That being the case, how can I build a
custom image or simply a custom kernel for my bone without the bone
being on an internet connected network?
