How to setup pico projector

Hi,
I have got beagleboard set up with Angstrom. Where can I find instruction on setting up my TI’s picojector?

Thanks for point out any link or info.

Thanks,
Pete

Try http://beagleboard.org/pico.

Great page, thanks!

The problem is that the link to the FAT files tarball is wrong, since
it starts downloading the EXT3 one. Looking into Google's cache i
found a link to the file

  http://beagle.s3.amazonaws.com/pico_sd_fat.tar.bz2

Is this link up to date (i'm still downloading it, so i can't tell
yet)? Can anyone fix the link in this webpage? Thanks!

Hi,
I have two questions about using pico projector with beagleboard:

1.What kind of cable do I need to connect the beagle board with the
pico projector?

2. I already have my SD card setup to boot Angstrom. To use pico
projector, do I need to use another SD loaded with
pico-sd-fat.tar.bz2.
pico-sd-ext3.tar.bz2. ? Does it mean I can't use Angstrom and pico together?

Is it possible to make the pico projector connected to the HDMI port
and just act as a simple monitor for the beagleboard?

Thanks for all your help.

Pete

If you purchased a Pico Projector Development Kit there is a video cable provided in the kit allowing connection between the Beagle Board and Pico Projector. The physical connection is DVI-D to mini-HDMI Type-A. The cable is in the box.

You do not need another SD card. These are two video files that will allow you to generate a display. You don't need to use them.

Hi,

I found the cable at the bottom of the pico project packaging  !

If I just plug in the cable to the beagleboard, the pico projector
will act as the monitor display right?

Why do I still need these two file in order to "generate a display"?
In order to project beagleboard's vido output, do I need to under
these files and where to under it to?

Sorry, I am a bit confused.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, 640x480@60Hz.

I believe John means the two video files?!?!

My pico works very fine with these env:
bootargs=console=ttyS2,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootdelay=2
rootfstype=ext2 ro video=omapfb:mode:640x480MR-32@60

I too found it there after MUCH embarrassment! Tthe white box has a
"false bottom", and I since didn't bother taking the plastic packaging
and smaller cardboard wall wart box out, I didn't notice this. I can tell
the group that I purchased a commodity HDMI-A to HMDI-C cable that
is gold plated and it does _NOT_ work. The included cable in the kit
does work. (I plan on to verify pinouts later when I have some free time).

I am VERY pleased with the size of the projector and the image quality.
One minor piece of advice: If you are mounting the picoDLP and
assuming your image comes from the center line of the lens, and spreads
equally ABOVE and BELOW the lens center point, then you will be
disappointed.

I haven't worked out the trig yet, but it shoot slightly upwards (which
experience will show you if you place the projector on a desk top, and
view the image normally, and then try and flip the projector over.)
Its not a design fault, its a user assumption fault =). Now go have fun
"beagle-'ing".

The SD images noted by John are provided in hope of facilitating a quick setup for interfacing the Beagleboard to the Pico. Some new Beagleboard users might benefit from using the precofigured SD images provided, alternatively they can proceed to use the excellent documentation available from the rest of the Beagleboard development community.

We expect that some Pico users have never worked with Linux. We wish to simplify the Pico-to-Beagleboard experience by, at least for the initial setup, reduce the Linux learning-curve overhead. We're striving for a simple plug-and-play Pico-to-Beagleboard experience. We're open for suggestions and ideas. Thanks.

The links were fixed, but now we're running into bandwidth restrictions from the host of the files. I apologize. We'll resolve this soon. Sorry for the incovenience.

I'm trying to download pico-sd-ext3.tar.bz2 over the last few days but
I'm getting the message "This file has triggered a potential abuse
warning and has reached its daily transfer limit. The file will be
available again tomorrow.".

Is there some other means of downloading this file?

Thanks in advance.
