I am not getting into the kernel shell

Hi,

I have followed the steps as given. But when I type root and pressed
enter, the cursor goes to second line and nothing happens. Please help
me.

Can you give the URL of the instructions and root file system you are
using? A capture of the serial console to this point of failure would
be very helpful.
