Increasing the RAM on the BeagleBoard Black to 1GB

Hi,

I just got my BBB and I was wondering if anyone has tried replacing the RAM on the board with a higher density part? After doing a bit of research it looks like Micron makes a chip that would be a drop in replacement:

It’s also in stock at a few places (and costs almost as much as a BBB!)

I’m planning on running android and wondering if there would need to be any software changes.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Nabil

We have not tried this. It may or may not work, but you can give it a try. These parts are very expensive so it has not been worth the effort to try it. And then there is the increase in current as well, but i have no idea if there is enough current available to support it.
