Hi, I'm new here although I've been following beagleboard for a little
while now.
There are still many things I don't understand about the board, and
I'd like to learn by doing.
Right now, I'm at a little bit of a dilemma, I really want to get a
beagleboard, but I really don't want to spend 100 bucks on a new
monitor because to me, that is still pretty expensive.
But I do understand that we can use serial console to interact with
the board, so I just want to clarify, is that separate from the DVI
monitor? As in I can use my computer and connect the serial cable to
the board and see the terminal on my computer's terminal?
My plan is to eventually interface with an LCD through the expansion
header and build everything around that
So if I do burn a copy Ångström image, I'm guessing I won't be able to
see any feedback through the serial terminal in terms of what goes on,
and in which case I must use a new monitor to see it?
If that is indeed the case, I'm just wondering if it's possible to
build some kind of LCD interface image (first I just want to get a
static picture up) and run it directly using things such as x-loader
or u-boot (sorry, I'm not very familiar with them, I don't really know
if I understood what these are yet) to at least get an image on my
LCD.
Basically, my question is: Is there any way for me to play with the
beagleboard without having to buy a new monitor?
Thank you guys very much
