Introduction: Newton Lijoodi - Embedded Systems & Hardware Validation

Hello BeagleBoard Community,

My name is Newton Lijoodi, and I am an Embedded Systems and IoT Engineer, just finished my degree at Moi University. I am writing to introduce myself as a prospective GSoC 2026 contributor.

I have a strong background in firmware-hardware integration and PCB bring-up from my time as a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Intern at Gearbox Europlacer.

GSoC Preparation Status:

I have already begun my technical onboarding for the BeagleBoard ecosystem:

  1. Cross-Compilation: I have successfully set up an arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc toolchain in WSL2.
  2. Emulation: I have verified my cross-compiled binaries using qemu-arm-static with proper library mapping.
  3. Workflow: I have established a local Git repository using Makefiles for build automation and am currently awaiting OpenBeagle account approval to push my “Hello World” PR.

I am particularly interested in projects involving automated hardware testing (like updating beagle-tester) or kernel/driver development, as these align with my experience in reducing “test escapes” and improving release stability.

I look forward to discussing potential ideas and learning from the community!
