Is an updated flasher image the same as opkg upgrade?

I am wondering if the updated flasher images on http://circuitco.com/support/index.php?title=Updating_The_Software have the same result as just doing a

opkg update
opkg upgrade

If that is not the case, what would be needed?

I hate flashing the emmc too much…

No they are different. It’s best to first install the new image from the getting started page and then run those commands afterwards.
