Is my X15 toast?

My X15 isn’t functioning properly.

The power indicator light comes on but when pushing the start button the running LED comes on for just a second, then goes out.

HDMI fails to effect the monitor screen stays “no signal present”

I have looked for trouble shooting blogs but they deal with boot issues, mine never gets to boot territory it seems.
I have several SD images I have tried to no avail.

Any tips appreciated even if it’s to verify that it’s toast.

Thank you,
Andy

If a valid image isn’t booted fairly quickly, the board will shutdown. Do you have a serial log? Can you try booting from a microSD with a fresh image?

I did try a couple of fresh images… but no luck

I was lucky enough to have the FTDI serial cable.

Using minicom on Ubuntu I got this:

Well, that’s enough to let you know your board isn’t fried.

Hi, i just got my x15 recently, and it got the same booting problem as yours. May I ask if your x15 works yet, and if so, how do you solve it. Thanks alot.

AFAIK, also the SPI never work on the Beagleboard-x15 on Linux. Though, one need the SPI to configure the expansion board.

How is the SPI used for expansion board configuration?

What SD card images have you tried to reflash it?

Hi,

I tried, inside /opt/source/dtb-4.14-ti and built the dtb files :

./src/arm/am57xx-beagle-x15.dtb
./src/arm/am57xx-beagle-x15-gssi.dtb
./src/arm/am57xx-beagle-x15-revc.dtb
./src/arm/am57xx-beagle-x15-revb1.dtb

which one should get loaded by the kernel in order to activate the Spi ? And how to do it ? By editing the uEnv.txt or can we just load it by Capemgr ?

Thanks for your hints

You’d need to use uEnv.txt (u-boot) as Capemgr has been moved to u-boot. I’m not sure if anyone has provided a sample overlay for SPI access on X15. Have you googled for it?

Please provide sample overlay for SPI access on X15.

Thanks !
