With the old forum I would always read the daily summary email. Is there a way to get the same functionality here as I have not been actively browsing the new forum every day.

There is a section in your User Preferences labeled “Email”. In there are settings for summary emails. Yours was set to “Weekly” so I changed it to “Daily” for you. You may (or may not) want to check the “Include content from new users in summary emails” box. There are some other interesting options in there that may help you get the notifications to work even better for you.
