Kernel customization for LCD

Hi,

We tried to customize the kernel for Beaglebone black for LCD and when we boot the board, we are getting the below error messages and LCD is not working.

pinctrl-single 44e10800.pinmux: pin PIN103 already requested by 48304100.pwm; cannot claim for 48038000.mcasp

During the Kernel customization we have disable the SPI (As we don’t need touchscreen), but still LCD is not working and we are getting the above msg.

HI @Sreekantha this is not a kernel “configuration build” issue…

It’s a pin resource issue… Your lcd is using audio pins.

In our default image, we have a set of /boot/uEnv.txt options to disable that configuration so your device can use the audio pins for your own purpose…

disable_uboot_overlay_audio=1

Hi @RobertCNelson, I tried adding disable_uboot_overlay_audio=1 to our uENV.txt file but still the LCD is not working.

Can you please let us know what we are doing wrong. In our application we don’t need touchscreen and reading of EEPROM (When display is plugged ) to be disabled.

If your goal is pre-build a *.dtb will all the custom overlays you need, the ‘fdtoverlay’ tools supports this.

Another possible issue, please share what your board is doing over J1 (Serial Debug) i’d like to see what u-boot is doing…

LCD is working with the default image, however, when we customize the LCD is not working. We have tested the other peripherals (I2C/UART/ADC etc) which are working when we customize the *.dtb file.

I have no plans to support “kernel” overlays, your on your own for that ^…

Okay, we know the original overlay works out of the box, what peripheral are you next enabling?
