linux login: root password?

Hi ,

I am a new Beagleboard owner who has been going through the instructions on the BeagleBoardDiagnostics web page with some success!!
I can now boot the uimage and setup a NDIS network connection from my XP pc. I can telent to the board but, and this is where I feel a bit stupid, I don't know the password for 'root'!! I have tried various passwords and searched the forum without success...

Please help !!!

Try no password at all, i.e., just press return. That's what it is by
default in Ångström.

Are you using the images from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/beagleboard-demo-image-available

I am using the image and file system at

Presumably, though, the problem is not the image but the /etc/passwd in
the ram filesystem ?
