Would https://www.olimex.com/Products/Power/BATTERY-LIPO1400mAh/ work with the beaglebone black?

As long as you do not need USB host functionality, it should work. Check the TPS65217 data sheet to make sure you can charger it and the additional circuitry required for it to detect it.

Nope. That requires 5V. You would be replacing the 5V rail with a 3.7V battery. It will run the board, but you lose 5V. You could build a cape and boost it to 5V. That would work. ut then you lose the charge capability of the TPS65217.

Or you could build a boost converter for your USB cable to the
keyboard. Take input of 3 to 5 V and output 5 V for the USB device.

I don't think such a thing exists but it'd be straightforward to
implement and productize, with a little engineering.

So I can’t use the keyboard when I would use the Battery-Cape for instance? Or where is the difference?

It boosts the batteries to 5V and connects to the 5V rails And you ave to charge the batteries externally.

I don’t understand anything of this, but the lipo can be added to the olimex-a13 without any hassle.
