I'm designing my own board and need help selecting POP memory. Micron
is showing that the MT29C2G48MAKLCJI-6 IT which the Beagleboard uses
is End of Life. So my instinct tells me that I should use a chip that
is in production. However, I'm not so confident that I know what I'm
doing when it comes to selecting another chip.
While I'm at it I would like to have 4Gb of NAND. Is this even
possible with the OMAP3530 CBB Package? Time is a bit critical here so
I need something that I know will work.
Can someone assist me?
This part is indeed end of life. There is a replacement that is at the same price, but it has double the NAND which should make you happy. 4G of NAND is not an issue. I suggest you move to that one. You Micron contact should be able to help ou with that one.

That is good news. Is there any chance you can give me the part
number? I e-mail Micron and they told me to contact my supplier who is
DigiKey. I just want to make sure DigiKey quote me on the correct
part.
I will need to dig it up. We are sticking with the current version on Beagle as we have inventory, but we will be moving to it later.

Here is the part number we were given by Micron as the replacement:
MT29C4G48MAZAPAKQ-6 IT

I would greatly appreciate it if you don't mind. I contacted DigiKey
and they were not aware of the replacement and could not track it down
for me. I'm back to trying to get a competent person at mircon to give
me the information.
Well, I know that Micron purchased Numonyx. From what I hear, the Numonyx team will be handling part of the market segments going forward. I suggest that you contact them via their website or look under the contact information for a local office or support. Send me a direct email if you have issues and I will forward it to my Micron factory contacts. Not sure that it will help, but I iwll pass it on.
