mtest failure usb failure

Hi,

I'm experiencing some mtest failure, not sure if it is normal (i guess
not!). (using u-boot 2010.3, on C4)
what would be the proper memory range for the test ?

also experiencing random usb (ehci) disconnects (usb 2.0 hub with
keyboard and mouse).

thanks
philippe

Is your USB hub self-powered?

I am pretty new at all this, but when I powered my board using only
the 5V power jack, there was not enough power for my keyboard or mouse
to work, but once I used a self-powered USB hub, everything worked
great.

yes, Hub is self powered.
currently, I soldered J6 and use the OTG port.
I also use pendrives on the EHCI, and it seems OK.
so I have no idea why the mouse/keyboard does not work on EHCI.

...waiting for some advice on the mtest issue i'm having, at least to
know what other people are getting. it does not seem to bother though,
not yet!

Hi,

I am having a similar problem with USB disconnects.
They are fine for about 10 hours.. and then problematic.

Any tips would be great.

Cheers,
CJ

Hi,

What revision of board do you have? Some boards prior to rev C4 had a
noisy power supply issue and most builds of the Linux kernel don't
include any work-around to reset the PHY if it gets hung due to the
noise problem. Some people have modified their rev Cx boards to
resolve the issue. See Beagleboard:Main Page - eLinux.org.

This is a FAQ. The EHCI port is high-speed only, until you put a high-
speed USB hub in the middle.

Hi Jason,

All mods have been made. It works fine initially.. just dies after a
period of time.
There is a powered high speed hub in the middle.

It's probably an issue with my application requiring too much
bandwidth.

I have a few ideas of things to try.. just wondered if any one has
observed a similar fault.

Cheers,
CJ
