New Beagelbone black 5.10.168-ti-r83 version

@RobertCNelson I saw your note in response to question I had posted where you mentioned v5.10.168-ti-r83 being released and was surprised I hadn’t seen it. In looking further I noticed that the -r83 version is mentioned under BeagleBone Black Debian 12.11 2025-08-08 IoT (v5.10-ti) and BeagleBone Black Debian 13 2025-08-08 IoT (v5.10-ti).

I am not able to download and check for myself but I am confused why the v5.10.168-ti-r83 is mentioned as Debian 12 and Debian 13 as I thought ALL 5.10.x would be Debian 11,

Could you please clear this up for me.

Thanks

v5.10-ti is in pretty good shape for things and still builds fine on Debian 12/13 so i included it on the release.. There are many things i need to move from v5.10.x-ti to → 6.12.x+

But now that Debian 13 is out… I’m dropping my personal Debian 11 development/test/etc..

Regards,

Interesting, I am about to dig into actual building of kernel but don’t understand how I would be able to build 5.10.x (which as far as I understand is kernel 5) to use newer kernel 6.

Any tips, links etc?

Am I misunderstanding something (a good chance!)

Only thing in Debian that really cares about the major version is glibc and systemd. v5.10.x is still fine in Debian 13…

We’ve had meta packages setup for awhile, which you can use to select specific major branches: [ARMHF] Debian 10.x/11.x/12.x Kernel Updates i need to go thru that and create a new list for Debian 13..
