No Updating Yet on the New Images with Kernel 5.10.x?

Hello,

I have a machine, the BBB, that I want to update/upgrade to get specific source on it. I am receiving some well known errors that were easily fixed with sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata but now…

  1. I get into the GUI on my terminal for tzdata
  2. I switch to US/Central
  3. Things seem okay
  4. Then, it tells me this on the output:
E: Release file for http://security.debian.org/debian-security/dists/bullseye-security/InRelease is not valid yet (invalid for another 14d 19h 15min 31s). Updates for this repository will not be applied.

uname -r : 5.10.106-ti-r41

I cannot install, update, or upgrade as of now.

Hello,

I installed am335x instead of bone in the image dept.

Seth

P.S. Things are updating now!

This means your local “clock” hasn’t been synced yet with the real world… Give it some time…

Side note… In Bullseye, systemd-timesyncd got spun out of the systemd package… fix this via:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install systemd-timesyncd

@RobertCNelson ,

Hello…I know this is not the place for this idea but vent, venting is on my mind, is what will transpire.

WSL2 via Debian Distro on Win 11. I use it to connect to the boards from beagleboard.org. I also do some programming with the Debian Distro for learning purposes, etc.

Anyway, Machinekit-Hal/CNC is creating a set of files on my system that are not usable on Win 11.

Is there source legitimate? I opened an issue on their repo online but I feel like I am beating a dead horse here.

Anyway, done for now. Thank you again for being good and working well. Some people!

AW!

Seth

P.S. That is the vent, rant, and squeamish.

I chomped my gums that time to say this, “It even kills off the images beagleboard.org produce.” It did, it did, it did. Anyway, no more for me. No more machinekit for me until never.

No idea…

Well,

Just for people to know as of current times w/ the Bullseye images w/ 5.10.x kernels, Machinekit breaks the _____ w/ whatever. I listened to the instructions. Perturbed is all.

Anyway…no issue. I kind of trash talked a bit w/ them and bolted.

Seth

P.S. I hate making enemies but the entire image crashed and I had to -force remove a bunch of stuff that would not automatically remove itself w/ APT. One reason is my fault.

  1. I erased the Debian WSL2 instance before trying to remove the packages w/ APT.
  2. I had to use a Win 11 instance to erase a bunch of files - many, many, many - for machinekit by way of force.

Oh well.
