I question if there was a particular reason for not bringing out the
nRESWARM signal to the expansion connector? From what I understand,
the nRESWARM can actually be made to function like a “COLD RESET” (via
software) or as the traditional “WARM RESET” (instant on) with a push
button. The reverse, using the nRESET (i.e. additional COLD RESET) is
not true. Was it just a lack of spare pins? Don’t get me wrong, I
think the xM design is much more “battery friendly” then the previous
design. I like having access to the PWR_CNTRL (PWRON) signals etc.
Just curious.
We chose not to bring it out. There were a lot of signals that were chosen to not bring out when we put the original design together 2.5 years ago. The -xM was designed to be compatible with the original version. Questions like this can always be asked by inserting whatever pin you like in place of the nRESWARM pin. We could not bring them all out. When we did the -xM we added a few pins based on what the community asked for. The nRESPWRON pin was not one of those signals.
