playing mpeg stream thru v4l2 driver

Hi,
is it possible for the v4l2 driver to play an mpeg stream directly on the frame buffer (in my case the o/p will show on a lcd screen ) . I am using the linux-2.6.29 kernel for beagle and have enbaled the v4l2 support as well.

thanks for the patch, could u specify the kernel for which this patch is applicable.
For playing mpeg4 stream which, device will the v4l2 driver connect to ? Now i can see only
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 MPEG2, will it be able to play mpeg4 stream using this device.
