Pocket Beaglebone gets heated

Hi,

I have purchased a new beaglebone and uploaded the latest image to it. After giving power from the USB cable the Octavo chip gets heated within few minutes.

I want to know that it’s normal or is there something wrong with my chip?

You need to check the temperature to which it shoots. Design parameters say 85 degrees as limit temp before it fries. My first pocketbeagle had this issue and it got fried while i was setting up internet access. Luckily i got a warranty replacement from seller. I have now put heat sink on the octavo package for safety. However, i think heatsink usage is an overkill and overheating beyond 70 degrees is a problem specific to a defective BB.
Try asking a replacement from seller if its overheating beyond 70.
