Or in other words: if I procure SD Cards up to which speed class should I bother comparing?

One thing I only found out recently - apparently SD cards from different manufacturers can have different power consumption - so if your application is power sensitive it might be worth looking up the power consumption data or measuring the power consumption for SD cards from different manufacturers.
