Powering BeagleBone Enhanced via the expansion port

Hi,

I’ve noticed that one of the differences between BeagleBone Enhanced and Black is the P9 pin 5 and 6. For Black, it’s VDD_5V whereas for Enhanced it’s changed to USB_DC.

VDD_5V in Black comes directly from the DC Barrel Input. However, I’m not sure where USB_DC came from, but I assume it’s coming from the USB input.

What is the proper way to power up the Enhanced board then, if I need to power it up using the expansion ports?

Thanks,
Mary

on the schematic for the BBE (BeagleBoneEnhanced/V1G/SanCloud_BeagleBone_Enhanced_1G.PDF at master · SanCloudLtd/BeagleBoneEnhanced · GitHub) P9 pin 5+6 are
labelled ‘cape_5v’. they’re routed to the ‘AC’ input of the TPS65217 PMIC
chip, which is exactly the same setup as on the BBB schematic, regardless of the
label.

on our bespoke cape/board all kinds of beagles are powered via
external 5v into pin5+6, and that definitely works
fine for BBB, BBBW(ireless), BBE(enhanced) and BBG(reen)G(ateway).
