Random ASCII symbols in Angstrom serial login

Hello,

I am running Angstrom (Narcissus Build) on my BB-xM Rev B with X11 Enlightenment Desktop.
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.

Host: Ubuntu 10.10

I connected my BB with a DB9 Male connector and cross wired its Rx Tx pins to my FTDI Breakout Board pins with GND connected.
I tried with Minicom and GTKTerm with said configuration settings.
But when i power up BB, the terminal displays ‘random ascii symbols’ on the screen.

and hence could not login in Angstrom shell via Serial.

I could not find such problem on the Internet, as other could login with no problems
Please help.

Hello,

I have also some problems with the serial comunication but that is just due to a bad ground connection between PC and beagleboard.

Does the communication on the serial port improve when you connect an USB cable between PC and Beagleboard otg port?
