remove gnome from Angstrom BBB

I need more space on the internal eMMC and have no use for gnome (using uSD is not an option). How do I uninstall gnome and all of it’s goodies. If I do, will it remove the ability to SSH into the Beaglebone Black?

My goal after gnome is gone, is to build a QT GUI similar to what Derek Molloy did on his site.

Totally new to Linux and BBB, so I may be crazy and not totally get it.

Any help would be great!

You need to investigate the Angstrom package management system, opkg. Get a list of the installed packages, and run opkg to remove the gnome-related stuff.

The ssh daemon, sshd, isn’t tied to gnome and removing gnome shouldn’t touch it. However, you need to make sure that your new configuration keeps sshd as part of the startup sequence. How that’s done depends on which init system Angstrom uses, and I don’t know the answer to that one.
