After a discussion today I noticed that the TI AM335x used on the BBB doesn’t have any acceleration for video decoding. It would be great if the next chip on the BBB or the follow on to the BBB had a vpu with acceleration so low cpu usage could be maintained with 1080p 30fps mpeg/h.264 video decoding.
Something to consider. But, we do no design these processors. There are many factors that go into selecting a processor.
