Skype_For_ARM

Hi all,

i downloaded skype for Ubuntu and it works properly.
is there any vrsion available for ARM.
i tried same for ARM but its binary is design for x86 architecture.

I’m not really sure if a generic ARM support/binary is available.
You can download the Skype binaries for your device from here http://skype.com/m/ if its available.

Hi Siddharth,

I think you have two alternatives here:

  1. As suggested, try the smart-phone binaries (Nokia N900 binary might actually work if available since the phone also uses an OMAP 3430 @600 MHz processor)
  2. Download, install and try to run alternate Skype clients like Fring or Nimbuzz.

Also, make sure you have all the libraries when you try to run skype (as given in the skype’s x86 Linux download page)

Good luck.

Hi Siddarth

You should really consider switching to using ekiga or other SIP based
standard internet telephony software. There are many technical and
non-technical reasons why (control, security, cost, choice of service
provider), but the simple obvious one is that it will work on ARM or
any other processor.

Michael
