tda998x driver failed

I was using my beaglebone black (rev D pcb) when the monitor turned off. After rebooting, I’m unable to get HDMI to work. I tried a different beaglebone with the same SD card, and a backup image on another SD card I made yesterday all with the same result.

There are a bunch of errors from the tda998x driver which I believe is causing HDMI not to work, but I don’t know the cause of those errors. Any idea where I should look?

I was able to resolve this by re-running /opt/u-boot/bb-u-boot-amm335x-evm/install.sh. I’m still not sure of the cause of the driver errors.

I ran into this again, after taking an SD card which worked on one board and loading it into a brand new board. Even after running the install script, I get tda driver errors and no screen.

@RobertCNelson do you have any ideas for me? Over UART, I can see that the BB-NHDMI-TDA998x-00A0.kernel overlay is loaded instead of any of the IT6612X overlays.

Sorry I’m really blind in this area, and I don’t understand what is going between /boot/uEnv.txt, u-boot, and overlays to cause this NHDMI-TDA overlay to try to load and fail on this beaglebone in particular but not on the other.
