Testing Pins and the BY-AI and BBAI-64

Hey There,

I am wondering some ideas that may or may not be welcomed to the boards…

  1. Can I test in realtime on the pins or should I shutdown and then boot while my testing supplies are connected?
  2. I was going to use the BY-AI and BBAI-64 for testing some GPIO pin usage for motor drivers.

So, would I need to first connect the scope or DMM for testing?

or…

Could I attach the scope and/or DMM in midstream while the board is already powered on?

Seth

With the scope you must be very careful where you place the ground clip. Your scope at minimum should be plugged into an isolation transformer. The probe tip is high enough impedance to not be an issue.

If you are working on line voltage and even the stiff supplied DC controls you should have a differential probe so the ground clip is NOT on your project.
