Transfering File/Directory from my MacBook Pro to BeagleBone Black via USB

Just got my BBB im trying to send it a file with a makefile so i can compile and run it via USB but i cant seem to be able to get the directory into my BBB, i am using terminal on a MacBook Pro. Can anyone offer a newbie some advice on how to do this?
