Upstream graphic status for Imgtech (as of 2025)

Dear all,

In Feb. 2025, the release of mesa3d 25.0.0 merges the support of IMG BXS-4-64, which could be found in TI AM67A used on BeagleY-AI.

The AXE-1-16 used by BeaglePlay was merged before.

The mesa doc page is updated as well : mesa3d driver for PowerVR.

So I guess it’s time we could discuss more about the status of it.

Currently, in TI’s doc for AM62 has mentioned about building the open source mesa userspace stack.
And their Yocto Platforms includes the BeaglePlay.

With that being said, I witnessed in the kernel part that Img is working on new compatible string for it :
# arm64: dts: ti: k3-am62: New GPU binding details.

Also, I see Chen-Yu recently tries to enable the open source support of GX6250 on the Acer Chromebook.
Yet Frank Binns states out that the support for Zink is still downstream in their gitlab.

So I would say everything is still very under heavy construction right now.

Hence I am wondering if anyone has tried the combination as a whole here ?

Daily builds: BeagleBoard.org / ci-mesa-main · GitLab

Still not usable, no useful pvr commits in main for awhile… So i keep it on stable branches (25.0)…

Regards,
