I got a USB label Printer working with ubuntu but can’t get it to work with a stock beaglebone black. I have loaded CUPS and have a .PPD file but no luck. Can’t seem to figure out how to add a new printer.
Can any one please point me in the right direction?

if cupsd is running, point a browser at http://<ip.of.beagle.here>:631 and you'll get the cups web interface which lets you install, configure and administer printers.
If this is on angstrom, you may need to set a root password, as cups will ask for an account with admin rights to do admin tasks. Don't know if it behaves well when the password is blank.
