Use of serial UART on BBxM and Ubuntu12.04hf

Hi,

Is there a way that I can keep using the serial UART after booting into 12.04armhf ? RIght now, it boots, shows boot info on the serial console and DVI takes over. I want to be able to keep using the serial for in- and output.
