Hello, after updating the OS of my BeagleV-Fire to Debian 13 (Trixie) v6.12.x and while being on the latest gateware, bbb.io-gateware/unknown,unknown,now 1.20260721.1-0~trixie+20260722 all [installed], virtual connections no longer work. I can no longer SSH via 192.168.7.2 and my Beagle does not enumerate as a COM port. In the meantime, I have been connecting via a physical RJ45. In comparison, the virtual connections worked in the out of the box scenario. I followed the instructions here: USB-C problems after gateware change - #4 by fredrikBB , to no avail. Any ideas?
Were you using Ubuntu before?
Something tells me that your USB Gadgets got disabled in Debian 13…
no this is a current regression in 6.12.x branch, i’m looking into it..
Regards,
In the OOB experience I was on Ubuntu – it came default. Interestingly, when I checked systemctl status bb-usb-gadgets.service I received output which said “No USB Device Controller available”

Could you post the first 4 seconds of your dmesg for us, please?
@RobertCNelson: The MUSB driver is present in kernel 6.12
Attached are the first for seconds of dmesg. Posting again as previous post is in approval limbo

Well, we’ve gotten some more to go on, although you’ve managed to loose the interesting bits.
Are you doing proper shutdowns or do you just yank the power?
The first four seconds looks exactly like they should, so I’m none the wiser…
How did you write the image to eMMC? Please don’t say Balena!
On the first few sessions, I was just yanking power. Since then, I do sudo shutdown -now.
I wrote the image using the BeagleBoard Imaging Utility.
