Welcome the Fall 2013 Beagle Call to the group

Wait, there’s a book?

Bill:
Yes, I use Christopher Hallinan’s Embedded Linus Primer for the booting and kernel details. The second edition is showing its age (it’s 2 years old!). I’m hoping there’s a third edition coming along, but I’m also open to other suggestions for future classes.

Junxuan Hou reporting in.

for what it's worth, a while ago, i wrote an online course, intro to
linux kernel programming, that i was selling for $39 for the entire
course. it's still there, but i recently open-sourced the whole thing
as i just didn't have the time to keep up with it. it's here:

  http://www.crashcourse.ca/

up at the top left. there's the original course, and the beginning of
the 2nd edition that simply updates the earlier sections, at which
point you can pop back to the first edition and keep going.

i'll clean it up and update it some day but, for the time being,
it's openly available for anyone who wants to see how to get started
writing and loading their first kernel module.

  enjoy!

Robert:
Thanks for the link. I’m moving into kernel material in class now, so I may draw on some of your material.
