Hi guys,
i use an OMAP3530 development board. It has a battery slot to power
the RTC.
I just leave that empty. I have been using the board without RTC being
powered.
Will i have any problems ?
As of now, my touchscreen does not work, even though the drivers are
installed. and My USB does not work as a mass storage device.. and i
cannot mount my USB mass storage device.
And my SD card is not getting mounted..
i get irq failures.
I suppose all these problems are not because of RTC..
Then what is the real problem? how should i correct them??
guys.. some body help me out.....

2) what are you running on it?

running Angstrom on ema DEV 3530…
help me somebody...
I was just reading some books.. dont know where i am heading..
An easy way to troubleshoot is to stay creative. The RTC batteries don’t cost you more than a dollar, and should be available for any computer repair / parts shop (depending on where you stay). Just put a RTC battery in there, and see what difference it makes.
Check out the first couple of results from http://www.google.co.in/search?q=linux+kernel+without+rtc
The time goes away when you power off the board. The Battery is to keep the clock ative during power down and is not used to power the RTC when powered up…

Then, what could be the reason for my troublesome USB and LCD display…
I have no idea. I am not familiar in any detail with that board. What does the manufacturer of the board have to say on the subject?
