Hi everyone!
I am interested in applying for Google Summer of code, and went
through some of the proposed ideas for the Beagle Board. I must admit
that I found many projects interesting, but I need some more info on
the Wiigle Board project!
As mentioned in the projects page, the project is about creating a low
cost video game platform. First of all I would like to ask whether
there is an interest for the project in question, and secondly if
there is additinal info available.
To my understanding, there are many drivers for game controllers
available, so we only need to port them to the Beagle Board, create
additional drivers, maybe trying to use new controllers? It could also
be that an abstraction is created so that games are ported to the
Beagle Board.
Any help and guidance is highly appreciated!

Hi, have you checked out http://www.open-pandora.org/ ? It uses the
same processor as the Beagleboard, and has generated quite a bit of
interest. So, yes your project could generate interest also and
secondly, you can take help from the OpenPandora folks. However, I
think the better thing would be to contribute to OpenPandora itself as
they have already done all the hard work to port the software and
maybe you could help them out to smoothen out the rough edges. Good
luck with your endeavor.

If a student wants to put their project on an OpenPandora (and can get
one), that is fine. It should run on a BeagleBoard as well, but I
don't think it matters much which OMAP3 platform is the focus of the
student. Gumstix Overo, N900, Archos 5, etc. are all options, and
some of those might even give hardware to the student for development.
