writing to [/dev/mmcblk1] failed using bbb-eMMC-flasher-eewiki-ext4.sh

Hi all,

I am using linux kernel 4.1.12-bone-rt-r20 and booting the board from 4GB SD card.

I was trying to use the script from R.Nelson https://github.com/RobertCNelson/boot-scripts/tree/master/tools/eMMC but it ends uop with the follwing error

I wanted to copy SD card image to eMMC using bbb-eMMC-flasher-eewiki-ext4.sh

Looking at the above, you probably have the eMMC disabled..

Double check your dtb=<value> setting in /boot/uEnv.txt

Just made a new image using the ./beaglebone-black-make-microSD-flasher-from-eMMC.sh of BBB I have running 4.4.16-bone-rt-r11

and am getting the same error

Well let's check your serial bootlog..

Otherwise, make sure your /opt/script/tools/ directory is up
to-date... (git pull)

as the whole library rework regressed everything..

OK I I ran the update twice in /opt/scripts/tools and got the Already up to date message(it updated the first time).

Now when I run the script ./beaglebone-black-make-microSD-flasher-from-eMMC.sh I get this in seriall output.

Just tested it..

Works fine..

1 - flashed emmc old bbb
2 - setup it to run with am335x-boneblack-emmc-overlay.dtb
3 - created eMMC flasher microSD
4 - used the flasher microSD to flash eMMC
5 - succes..

So... it's either: 4.4.16-bone-rt-r11 or your am335x-boneblack-emmc-overlay.dtb

Thanks for the confirmation.

I too have since gotten it to work on a number of BBBs, however one it doesn’t like. The serial output is what I have above ending with the busybux and the initramfs prompt. Not sure what is going on with that particular one.

I’ll investigate it more and get back to you.
